Wollaston customer banishes the blues with timeless new Shaker kitchen cabinets!

When our client Julie called us in to create a new bespoke kitchen for her, she wanted a style that was warm and traditional. But she also wanted to add some more modern touches to update the look and really make it her own. It was Julie’s dream to combine the traditional with the modern in her new kitchen. To realise this dream, we suggested classic Shaker kitchen cabinets. And then we used all the tricks of the trade to bring it right up to date. Rounded end cupboards and beautifully crafted handles add a touch of modernity to this traditional country wooden kitchen.

Firstly, we assessed the space and decided to open up the kitchen to the living area. This not only brought in more light to the dining area, but created a more open flow to the rooms. As a result, Julie’s new kitchen has a more spacious feel and is as perfect for daily family life as it is for evening entertaining.

Shaker kitchen cabinets …the kitchen of dreams!

Belying its traditional style, this Shaker kitchen has all the clever hidden storage to make this truly a modern room. We included a Blum space tower larder storage unit, not just for its superb storage capacity. Additionally, it allows Julie to have easy access to everything in the cabinet. Each drawer can even be pulled out individually, so she’ll never lose anything at the back of the cupboard again! A stunning undermount sink, carefully selected door furniture and the very best in Neff appliances complete this kitchen of dreams. This kitchen of Julie’s dreams!

Julie chose to go with an on-trend deep indigo blue for one set of kitchen units. As a result of using this intense matt colour, the quality craftsmanship of the Shaker cabinetry is really highlighted. A Scandinavian-inspired deep blue as a feature wall in the living room echoes the colour of the cabinets. The result is two spaces that marry together seamlessly. Furthermore, we decided to go with a coordinating second run of modern light grey cabinets. In addition, we used an elegant white glitterstone quartz worktop to reflect the light from the kitchen window. The finished result is a light, bright and modern kitchen.

…and the piece de resistance?

We cleverly added a rustic oak breakfast bar with trendy pendant lighting over. The result is a relaxed, yet stylish place to sit and chat or do homework. Or maybe even to enjoy pre-dinner drinks with friends. And we think this is what truly makes this blue Shaker kitchen the very heart of Julie’s home. A home that she can now really enjoy to the maximum.
