Modern slim Shaker kitchen design:

Jon & Helen’s kitchen in Stourbridge was designed around modern family living, combining open-plan functionality with a refined slim shaker aesthetic. The result is a space that feels practical, spacious, and visually balanced, while still delivering a contemporary architectural finish.

The slim shaker cabinetry introduces a cleaner, more minimal interpretation of traditional shaker design, making it ideal for open-plan living spaces.

Graphite Shaker cabinetry with brass details

The cabinetry is finished in a deep graphite tone, creating contrast against the lighter quartz surfaces and enhancing the architectural feel of the space. Aged brass knurled handles and knobs introduce warmth and texture, preventing the darker palette from feeling too heavy.

Calacatta gold quartz worktops

The lovely Jon and Helen selected Calacatta Gold quartz to introduce natural movement and warmth across the kitchen surfaces. Its durability makes it ideal for a busy family kitchen, while its veining adds a premium, timeless aesthetic.

A waterfall end panel on the island enhances the design impact, allowing the quartz to flow seamlessly from horizontal to vertical surfaces.

Open-plan kitchen island with bar area

The standalone island acts as both a functional workspace and a social hub within the open-plan layout. Designed with a dedicated bar area, it provides flexibility for cooking, dining, and entertaining.

The island naturally becomes the focal point of the kitchen, supporting modern family life and social interaction.

Integrated appliances for a clean finish

We integrated a Neff venting hob extractor into the island, maintaining clear sightlines across the space without the need for overhead extraction.

A Quooker boiling tap adds everyday convenience while reducing countertop clutter and improving workflow efficiency.

Material contrast and finishing touches:

The combination of graphite cabinetry, brass detailing, quartz surfaces, and herringbone flooring creates a layered and balanced interior. Each material was selected to complement both the functional needs and aesthetic goals of the space.

The herringbone flooring softens the sharper architectural lines, adding movement and warmth throughout the open-plan layout.
