What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Security Logs

The IP address of visitors, user ID of logged in users, and username of login attempts are conditionally logged to check for malicious activity and to protect the site from specific kinds of attacks. Examples of conditions when logging occurs include login attempts, log out requests, requests for suspicious URLs, changes to site content, and password updates. This information is retained for 14 days.

Contact forms

By filling out our contact form, you are consenting to The Gallery storing the details provided and/or emailing you with offers, and news we feel will be of interest to you.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

Visitor data / tracking:

We use website visitor data for retargeting ads. Meta processes this data in encrypted form.

How we use your data

Email Marketing and Lead Nurturing:

When you make an enquiry with us, whether through our website, social media channels (including Meta platforms such as Facebook and Instagram), or directly: your contact details will be added to our customer database. We use Mailchimp, a trusted third-party email platform, to manage and send our communications.

This allows us to send you relevant information about our products, services, and offers by email. Mailchimp stores your data securely on our behalf and does not use it for their own purposes. You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time by clicking the “unsubscribe” link included in every message, or by contacting us directly.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Security logs are retained for 14 days.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Our aim at The Gallery is to make our website as accessible as possible to the widest range of people.

This means considering the specific needs of not only those with visual or motor impairments, learning difficulties and other forms of disability, but also different browser technology and Internet connection speeds.

To this end, we have endeavoured to comply with the most widely accepted guidelines for the construction of accessible web sites specified by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

Google Web Fonts

If you are not entirely satisfied with your purchase please contact our customer service department on (01384) 75757. We will try to resolve any issues that you have as quickly as possible and if necessary we will explain how to follow our complaints procedure.

If you remain unhappy with our final response, you may be entitled to refer your complaint to The Dispute Resolution Ombudsman and we are bound to follow any decision that they make.
