Let there be light …and lots of it! | Kitchen plinth lights

When the Doy family asked us to help create their dream kitchen in Stourton, light was on the very top of the agenda. They wanted to achieve a space that was not just functional, but also mood-enhancing; even on a grey winter’s day. So take a look at how we combined kitchen plinth lights and pendant lighting to bring light and joy into the heart of their family home.

A real lightbulb moment.

Take all the natural light. Firstly, we noted how the light filtered in from their extension, courtesy of areas of floor-to-ceiling glazing and Velux windows. We wanted to gain maximum benefit from the natural light in this newly-created space. Accordingly, we designed a bespoke kitchen layout to take advantage of this light-filled room. And this gave us a great backdrop in which to work our kitchen magic!

Beautifully-crafted Shaker wood cabinetry gives a warm and elegant feel to the kitchen. We decided to make the very most of the natural light flooding in by opting for a Stone and Porcelain matte paint finish. In addition, we topped off the units with a quartz worktop in Silestone White Arabesque. The result is a look that is not only stylish and on-trend, but also allowed us to gain full advantage of reflected natural light.

…and add to it with great kitchen lighting

But, as with most areas of life, sometimes Mother Nature isn’t quite enough! So we gave her a little helping hand by adding in under-cupboard task lighting and kitchen plinth lights. The resulting light gives a sensual and discreet extra glow to the kitchen, adding both radiance and ambiance. You know those filters on Instagram that lift you? That make you look lighter, brighter and just that bit perkier? Plinth lighting achieves much the same…but for your kitchen. You’re welcome!

We added in a island unit, with undermount sink and boiling water tap, which is just perfect for everyday family life. The kitchen pendant lights above offer not just great task lighting, but also a hint of style and fun. And the fun keeps on coming with an integrated wine cooler and curvaceous circular end unit, complete with solid oak top. If those beautiful curves aren’t enough to tempt you, then the drinks bar housed within them most certainly will!

A kitchen built to last

And what do you get? To finish off the Doy family’s dream kitchen, we added Karndean flooring. This adds a luxe look without compromising on practicality. In addition, we went for top-quality Neff appliances to make this a kitchen built to last. By day, we have a beautifully-lit kitchen, carefully designed and built by our expert craftsmen, that is just perfect for our clients’ busy family lifestyle. And by night? When the sun goes down: they can turn the task lights off and party to the ambient glow of the kitchen plinth lighting.

…glass of chilled Chardonnay, anyone?
