Painted mussel Shaker kitchen

This beautiful fitted kitchen in painted mussel Shaker is right on-trend at the moment. The Gallery’s fitting team installed this Shaker kitchen, in leafy Wombourne, South Staffordshire.

Accent colour

The subtle colour of the mussel looks fantastic, and the smooth painted finish gives a feel of quality and luxury, which other materials just can’t achieve. The use of the olive green splash-back behind the hob acts an an accent colour. This has the effect of adding another dimension to the overall appearance.

Warmth & contrast

The customer opted for a mixture of white Ama Quartz work-surfaces and upstands for the main run of the kitchen. We were delighted when the customer opted for a prime oak worktop on the island unit. Oak is the prefect material for an island, as it has natural anti-bacterial properties. As a result, the inclusion of oak is an ideal choice for anywhere people prepare or consume food.

The end result was an absolutely stunning mussel Shaker kitchen; adding warmth and contrast to the muted tone of the mussel door.

Top tip!

Using pictures instead of wall units can add a unique edge to your kitchen, which is exactly what we did here, to great effect. Our customer has used prints on the walls, adding character to the room and cleverly fill the empty space left by the wall units. Another point to mention is the visual feel of this room. As the island is central to the room and takes up floor space: removing the wall units also makes the room feel much more open, and actually appear bigger than it is.

One more thing to consider here would be storage; as the customer was conscious not to lose a single square-inch. However, since we included the island unit, this comfortably makes up for what was lost.
